I used to sell flowers on the median when I was in 7th and 8th grade. I worked the intersection of La Cienega and Centinela mostly. Lots of aerospace worker and LAX traffic. A mixed bouquet cost $2.00. Roses were $3.00. I made a measly 50 cents from each sale. The crew back then was made up of a bunch of Westside kids, mostly from Westchester and Inglewood. It was a little like Oliver Twist in a warped 1970's sort of way.
