Bullshit!!!!! I read the exact same story back in 2008, except instead of a bowhead whale it was about an exceptionally old Bigfoot (sasquatchi gigantopithecus). In fact, If you replace every mention of a whale in this story with "Bigfoot", you'll understand the questionable veracity of this tale.
Wow, what a condemnation! However, in this story there seems to be actual material scientifically examined evidence. I doubt if that would be the case for any Big Foot reports, which have only been supposed sightings, never an actual find.
Having said all that, I understand where the writer is coming from in his/her comparison. It might just be a false equivalency, as in the old "apples to oranges." Both are fruit, but each has its own unique properties.
